Herts Ability can assist you with anything from applying for your provisional driving licence to theory test support, dealing with the DVLA and getting you on the road as an independent driver.
First things first!
Once you have a provisional driving licence, we’ll need to meet up in our Welwyn Garden City offices. Officially, this is called an assessment, but we are happy to call it whatever suits you. Our teams understand that the thought of assessments, tests and exams can sometimes be daunting, so we’ll work with you to make everything feel friendly and comfortable.
This assessment will help our teams identify your needs as an individual. We’ll look at what you can do and give advice on how you can do more! Of course, this will also be the first opportunity to get behind the wheel too. With our expert DVSA Approved Driving Instructors, you’ll be in safe hands. Don’t worry if you make mistakes, everyone does; we just want to see what you can do.
You’ll have a lot of information to take in, but don’t worry – Herts Ability will send you a full report with everything we’ve discussed.
We are proud to work in partnership with ADD-vance and very happy to offer a discount for this assessment to anyone referred through the ADD-vance website.
Once the assessment is done, we can advise on your next steps.

- Offer a place in the Herts Ability Driving School with a specialist Driving Instructor
- Offer a place with the Herts Ability Theory Test Workshops
Why use us?
- A non specialist Driving Instructor could be more affordable for you but may not have an understanding of your individual needs
- Herts Ability have Driving Instructors with many years experience in assisting people with individual needs
- The Herts Ability Driving School can help you all the way through the theory and practical tests with 1:1 learning for the theory and, specialist knowledge of getting reasonable adjustments if needed for the tests
We can offer the assessment service at any of our centres: Welwyn Garden City, Watford, Harlow or Luton.
Currently, we can only offer the Driving School services at Welwyn Garden City. This may change in the future as our service continues to grow.
